Quick answer: Google Ads has no fixed price in India — you pay each time someone clicks, and the price is set in an auction. Typical clicks cost ₹5–₹30 in ecommerce, ₹10–₹50 for local services and ₹30–₹150 in real estate. Most small businesses need ₹30,000–₹50,000 a month in ad spend to see steady leads, plus 18% GST and any management fee.
"How much will Google Ads cost me?" is the first question almost every business owner asks us — and the honest answer is that it depends on your industry, your keywords and how well your campaign is built. This guide gives you real ranges from Indian campaigns, a simple way to set your budget, and the hidden costs most people forget.
How Google Ads pricing works
Every time someone searches, Google runs an auction between the advertisers bidding on that keyword. Your position and price depend on two things:
- Your bid — the maximum you are willing to pay for a click.
- Your Quality Score — how relevant your keyword, ad and landing page are to the search, rated from 1 to 10.
A higher Quality Score means you pay less for the same position. That is why two businesses bidding on the same keyword can pay very different prices — and why a well-built campaign almost always beats a bigger budget.
Average cost per click in India by industry
These are typical cost-per-click ranges we see on Google Search campaigns in Indian cities like Mumbai. Your numbers will vary with competition, location and campaign quality.
| Industry | Typical cost per click | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ecommerce (Shopping / PMax) | ₹5 – ₹30 | High volume, lower value per sale |
| Local services (repairs, salons, interiors) | ₹10 – ₹50 | Small areas, fewer bidders |
| Education & coaching | ₹15 – ₹60 | Seasonal peaks before each batch |
| Healthcare & clinics | ₹20 – ₹80 | Urgent "near me" searches |
| B2B & manufacturing | ₹25 – ₹120 | Few searches, high deal value |
| Real estate | ₹30 – ₹150 | Developers and portals compete hard |
| Finance, insurance, legal | ₹50 – ₹300+ | Very high lifetime value per client |
How much budget do you need? A simple formula
Work backwards from the leads you want, not from a round number:
- Leads needed per month — for example, 40 enquiries.
- Expected conversion rate — a good landing page converts 5–10% of clicks into enquiries. Use 5% to be safe.
- Clicks needed — 40 ÷ 5% = 800 clicks.
- Budget — 800 clicks × ₹40 average CPC = ₹32,000 a month, which works out to about ₹800 per lead.

| Business type | Typical monthly ad spend | Typical cost per lead |
|---|---|---|
| Local service in one area | ₹15,000 – ₹30,000 | ₹150 – ₹600 |
| Clinic or coaching institute | ₹30,000 – ₹75,000 | ₹300 – ₹1,000 |
| B2B manufacturer | ₹40,000 – ₹1,00,000 | ₹800 – ₹3,000 |
| Real estate project | ₹1,00,000 – ₹3,00,000+ | ₹800 – ₹3,000+ |
The hidden costs of Google Ads in India
- 18% GST on ad spend. A ₹50,000 budget is billed at about ₹59,000. GST-registered businesses can usually claim input tax credit.
- Management fee. Agencies typically charge a fixed monthly fee or a percentage of spend for setup, ad copy and weekly optimisation.
- Landing page. Sending ads to a slow homepage wastes money. A focused landing page is often the biggest single improvement.
- Tracking setup. Without GA4, Google Tag Manager, call and WhatsApp tracking, Google cannot learn which clicks turn into leads.
- Creatives. Display, YouTube and Performance Max campaigns need images and videos.
7 ways to lower your Google Ads cost per lead
- Raise your Quality Score. Group closely related keywords together and write ads that repeat the searcher's words.
- Add negative keywords weekly. Block searches like "free", "jobs", "course" or "salary" that will never buy.
- Use phrase and exact match for your core keywords instead of broad match when the budget is small.
- Target only where you serve. A Malad clinic does not need clicks from Thane or Pune.
- Schedule ads for the hours your team can answer calls and WhatsApp messages.
- Speed up the landing page — test it with our website speed test; every extra second loses enquiries.
- Track conversions properly so Smart Bidding optimises for leads, not cheap clicks.
Real example: 138 leads in 30 days
Mudrank Trading Institute was spending on Google Ads with weak keyword targeting and a landing page that lost most visitors. We rebuilt the campaign around high-intent course keywords, tested several ad variants and launched a fast, mobile-first landing page. In the first 30 days the campaign generated 138 qualified leads at a 42% lower cost per acquisition. Read the full Google Ads case study.
Google Ads or Meta Ads — which costs less?
Meta (Facebook and Instagram) clicks are usually cheaper, but Google Ads reaches people who are already searching for your service, so leads tend to be warmer. Most businesses do best with Google for demand capture and Meta for awareness and retargeting. Our comparison of SEO vs PPC explains when to invest in each.
